DEADPOOL 2 framed by Vancouver artisan eyewear framemaker
If you’re gonna team up with the Merc with a Mouth, you’re gonna want to make sure you have a clear view of all the danger headed your way. So, when bartender and Wade Wilson confidant Weasel (aka TJ Miller) needed some custom eyewear, the creative team from Deadpool 2 turned to Mosh Framemakers!
A replica of the original
Looking to replicate Weasel’s unique frames from the original smash-hit Deadpool film, they needed someone who could build something, refined and robust! Who better than Mosh head-honcho, Sara to lend her super powers to the team?
Deadpool gets a healing factor, Domino gets lucky, Cable gets a cybernetic arm, Peter gets a sweet moustache, but Weasel gets the cool glasses.
The process
Working from the only remaining frame from the original production that was hanging together by glue, tape and hope (action movies are a rough & tumble business, folks!) Sara set about designing 2 fresh pairs from scratch, using a hybrid of polished black acetate for the frame, a silver metallic bridge and the custom Mosh temples

The material creation. Two 4mm pieces were fused together to make one super thick 8mm piece that could be carved into the "chunky" look the Artistic Director was looking for.
Sara's framemaking notes. It's always easy to make the first pair, but to get the second pair to look exactly like the first requires good note taking and reference pictures.

The majority of the work is made up of hours of filing, sanding and polishing. All by hand. This is bespoke handcrafted eyewear at its core.
After mocking up a few prototypes, Sara was ready to start crafting the actual pieces complete with her signature, personalized inscription – the swaggering assertion that “Weasel is a Love Machine”, Love Machine derived from the film’s working title during production.

With word spreading quickly about Sara’s unique skill-set, more and more production houses are calling on her to provide the Mosh touch to their Prop Departments! She couldn’t be more thrilled to contribute her part to these amazing, hard-working crews that bring so much pride and prestige to Vancouver.
